16 Inch Zip Ties
The 16 inch zip tie is the longest length in our 120 lb range and the bridge to the extra-long ties. It closes around a bundle of approximately 4 to 4.5 inches in diameter, with strap width and head design setting the exact limit. That is enough to gather a large bundle of cables, cinch a rolled floor mat or length of fabric, or hold a coiled garden hose that a 14 inch tie will not quite close around.

One thing worth knowing before you buy: a 4x4 post measures about 3.5 inches on each side, which puts its perimeter near 14 inches. A 16 inch tie can technically wrap it, but with very little strap left to grab and tighten. For square lumber posts, a 24 inch tie is much easier to install. On round posts and pipe up to about 4 inches, 16 inch is a comfortable fit.
Our 16 inch ties are rated 120 lb minimum loop tensile strength and made from 100% nylon PA66, in Black for outdoor sun exposure and Natural Clear White for indoor work. If you need both the reach and more tensile strength, our 24 inch ties are currently rated 175 lb.

Typical uses
Rolled goods and mats
Holding rolled rubber mats, carpet remnants, landscape fabric and tarps closed for storage and transport.
Large cable bundles
Gathering big groups of cables or cords into one bundle along a wall, tray or equipment frame where shorter ties run out of strap.
Hose and cord coils
Keeping garden hose, air hose and long extension cords coiled so they hang neatly and do not unwind in a truck bed or shed.
Round posts and pipe
Attaching netting, signs and supports to round posts and pipe up to about 4 inches across, using Black ties outdoors.
Is a 16 inch zip tie right for your job?
Choose 16 inch for bundles around 4 inches in diameter, or when you want the longest tie in the 120 lb class. It is also a practical single length for storage jobs like mats, hose and cord coils, where the bundle size varies.
If you are wrapping square 4x4 lumber, bundles larger than about 4.5 inches, or anything where you want a higher rating, step up to 24 inch. For bundles closer to 3.5 inches, 14 inch leaves less waste.

Frequently asked questions
What diameter does a 16 inch zip tie fit?
Approximately 4 to 4.5 inches. Strap width and head design change the exact figure, so choose a longer tie if your bundle is right at that size.
Will a 16 inch zip tie go around a 4x4 post?
Barely. A 4x4 is about 3.5 by 3.5 inches, so its perimeter is close to 14 inches, which leaves very little strap to tighten. A 24 inch tie is the easier choice for square posts.
Are 16 inch zip ties heavy duty?
Ours are rated 120 lb minimum loop tensile strength, which is generally described as heavy duty. For a higher rating, our 24 and 36 inch ties are currently rated 175 lb.
